To celebrate the International Day for Elderly, a special day for senior citizens worldwide, Let’s Give Back, an initiative by Babeetta Sakxena, organised a cookery contest Kahin Gum Na Ho Jaye that brought younger and older generation together for one objective – to revive the traditional Indian family recipes in modern avatar.
Food is one factor that has power to unite people beyond generation gaps and belief systems. So, Let’s Give Back conceptualised the event Kahin Gum Na Ho Jaye, to bring the experiences of senior citizens from across cultures and energy and enthusiasm of the next generation on the common platform. Objective was to rejuvenate the old or lost recipes. A thought to revive, re-visit those old alleys of forgotten heritage.
So, Participation was open through online for couple entries only, 18 plus and 60 plus. The teams of two generations partnered with each other and created magic at the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management on 24th September and turned long nurtured dreams of the graceful citizens a reality. Top Chefs like Chef Vinod Saini, Chef Anirudhya Roy and Chef Gautam Chaudhary were the panellists for the unique cookery contest.
Grand Finale for the event was organised at Sheraton Hotel, Saket on the 25th September culminating into a Grand Awards function that was attended by the top chefs, nutritionists, cook-book Bollywood Celebrities.
The finale awards ceremony The Chief Guest, senior BJP leader and Social Activist Mrs. Neera Shastri, graced the Awards function, and congratulated the Organisers for this wonderful celebration of the Elderly. Each team, whether a winner or not was felicitated with beautifully curated Awards to honour those who were never acknowledged for their participation.
Guest of Honour Mr. Sandeep Marwah, a global leader and President ICMEI, shared his words of wisdom and offered relentless support to ‘Let’s Give Back Initiative’.
The Event that was was sponsored and supported by Greens Events, R&R Events, Riyasat, 15 no. Spices, Florenzaa, Treasure Grandeur, Insia, Country Curries, P&G Lifestyle, Oriflame, and Esoparijat saw several dignitaries share their vision to celebrate the Elderly.
Among the eminent personalities were, poet, actor and founder director of Muskan Productions, Miss Lavlin Thadani, Grasim Mr India 2006 and actor Saurabbh Roy, director Earth Saviours foundation Mr Ravi Kalra, Femina Officially Gorgeous 2016, TED speaker, Founder Productive Pageantry Dr. Shivangi Maletia, spiritual Guru ISCKON Prabhu Bimla Prasad and Senior Global Vice Chairman at Human Right Council of India Mr Bhupinder Singh.
Let’s Give Back Initiative supported the NGO ‘Arushi Foundation’, that works for the under privileged seniors located in various bastis across Delhi and NCR that showcased Diwali gifts made by the Senior Citizens.
Ms Nandini Diwakar with Partner Mrs Daljeet Anand bagged the first prize, The other winners included, Ms Sarika Mehta with Ms Pushpa Mehta, Ms Swati Mahaseth with Ms Sangeeta Dhanawat, Mr Jitender Kalra with Mr S.C. Kalra, Ms Neeta Bhatia with Ms Inder Kaur, Dr. Sugandha Chadha with Ms Madhu Sachdeva, Ms.Ritu Arora with Ms.Rajrani Kataria and Ms.Priya Jain with Ms.Kumkum Jain. The Contest winners took back home cash prizes worth one lakh rupees and very attractive gift hampers.
