Going for a business meeting or a job interview? Confused about what to wear? Knowing that how you dress up speaks volumes about you, you may follow these FIVE TIPS and put the right foot forward.

1. Wear what you are comfortable with:

When you have to make a choice between a sari, business suit or skirt, my suggestion is to go with what you find most comfortable. For example, though I admire women with saris, I can't carry saris very comfortably. So, I stick to the office wearing trousers and a shirt. It is important to wear what you are at ease with so that you don't need to focus on your clothes while you are having an important discussion.

2. Make sure it fits you well:

Undoubtedly, there is a plethora of suitable business styles to follow when appearing for a meeting and you can get hold of that. perfect attire for yourself. However, one important point that you must make sure of is that your attire fits you well. If you had the means and could afford it then bespoke could be the best you could tip yourself with and would be a great business investment.

3. Dress to the occasion:

Many a time one may goof up by wearing the wrong clothes and accessories in the wrong places. A more secure way is to find out the culture of the place, and organization and dress accordingly. If you are going to an interview, and you may want to make a first strong impression by dressing up differently than your peers, but you can?t afford to wear a cocktail party dress or heavy accessories. If you are wearing a saree, go for a simple silk or cotton saree and avoid designer ones.

What you wear depends on who you are going to meet. Your target audience! When I am meeting someone for the first time, I, without any deviation, go for formal office wear. I do take the liberty to wear a pair of jeans with a simple shirt sometimes, only when I have some idea of the person I am meeting.

4. Those manicured fingers:

How would you react to unkempt nails with chipped nail color? If you can?t take care of something so simple, how you would manage a job? Trim and shape your nails and apply a nice color. Again, avoid using a florescent color, unless you want your interviewer to focus on the nails. Don't have time? In that case, clipping nails, removing paint and moisturizing is better than displaying uncared fingers.

5. The right shoes:

Shoes that give a good grip are the best.

Dark color shoes and those that match the color of your attire are the best. Wear high heels only when you are comfortable and don't fear tripping. And, say no to Flip-Flops or chappals, please.

Though this is simple stuff yet many people tend to underestimate it. Follow the advice and there you go!
