Why Clarity matters in life and everything: 5 Questions answered

Clarity is our default mode. We are born with clarity. It is the pure, unfiltered understanding of the world and our place in it. It is visible in that child marvelling at a flower or laughing freely at something simple. 

That’s clarity: a natural state of presence, curiosity, and connection. 

However, as we grow, this innate clarity gets clouded by conditioning, societal expectations, and the beliefs we absorb and start to own. Confusion and self-doubt can take over, and it is easy to feel confused, overwhelmed and lost.

The good news is that beneath these layers, clarity is still right there, just waiting to be rediscovered. 

What is Clarity?

Clarity is a state of mental, emotional, and spiritual alignment. It’s the ability to see and accept things as they are, without distortion or unnecessary noise. When you have clarity, your decisions come from a place of calm, and you are confident that you will be okay. 

Interestingly, clarity is not the same for everyone. And even for the same person, it can have different meanings at different times. Clarity can mean - 

  • Direction: To know your goals and the steps needed to achieve them.
  • Peace: A sense of inner calm, free from overthinking and self-doubt.
  • Understanding: Insight into who you are and what matters most to you.
  • Focus: Ability to prioritize what’s important amidst life’s chaos.
  • Acceptance: To acknowledge what is and be at peace with it.

What does it feel like to have clarity?

Clarity can feel like a calm lake on a sunny day. It can feel like standing on a mountaintop and seeing everything laid out before you. There’s no confusion, no rush; just a quiet knowing. You feel light, confident, and in control. You feel expansive. 

Clarity also feels like flow - when your thoughts, actions, and emotions are in harmony and you simply float along the flow, knowing you’re on the right path. 

Why Is Clarity Important? 

Clarity is your YES! Yes, to what is important, valuable, and a priority for you at that time. It is essential for living a life of your choice. Without it, we risk feeling lost, stuck, or overwhelmed. 

Here’s why clarity matters for achieving goals and success :

  • Enhances decision-making: Clarity helps you distinguish between what’s truly important and just noise.
  • Builds confidence: When you’re clear about your values and goals and take action based on them, self-doubt takes a backseat.
  • Reduces stress: A clear mind is less likely to spiral into overthinking and worry.
  • Fosters growth: Clarity allows you to recognize opportunities and take steps toward self-improvement.

What Would Life Be Without Clarity?

Life without clarity is like walking through a foggy forest, unsure of which path to take. It is a constant state of second-guessing, feeling stuck, or chasing after things that don’t truly matter. Without clarity, it’s easy to fall into patterns of procrastination, indecision, and even burnout. 

How Do You Know It’s Clarity?

You’ll know you’ve found clarity when:

  • Your decisions feel aligned with your values.
  • You experience a sense of ease, even in challenging situations.
  • You’re not overwhelmed by the opinions or expectations of others.
  • You feel deeply connected to your purpose.

Reclaiming Your Default State

Clarity isn’t something you gain; it’s something you uncover, come back to. All you need to do is take time to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. Journaling, mindfulness, and working with a coach can help you peel back the layers of conditioning and return to your natural state of clarity.

And remember: clarity is not a destination to arrive at, it’s a practice to follow. It’s about consistently choosing to come back to your center, even when life feels chaotic. The clearer you become, the more you’ll realize that your clarity has been and still is within you.
